Peter Ouko
Executive Director
Peter (“Pete”) founded Crime Si PoaÒ while serving time for a wrongful conviction on death row at Kamiti Maximum Security Prison. His passion for justice for the marginalized and underserved, desire to end wrongful convictions and the safety of young people inspired him to set up the organization. He is a trained paralegal, holds a Diploma in Law from the University of London, and is also an LLB finalist.
A TED Speaker, Pete is recognized as a leading name in the Kenyan criminal justice reforms space. With the Board and team, he has built the Crime Si PoaÒ brand as an innovative, responsive, highly impactful, youth-driven and youth-centric organization. As Executive Director, Pete’s strategic leadership, ability to spot and invest in talent, and develop transformational leadership has led to highly impactful outcomes and rapid growth of the organization within the last two years.
Pete owes his resilient spirit to his upbringing with values-oriented parents, a closely-knit family, the organization’s program beneficiaries, and mentors. He has previously served as a director of the Amnesty International Kenya chapter and Lead of the Social Justice program at Karen Vineyard Church.

Programs Director and General Counsel

Sylvia is a human rights enthusiast passionate about social justice, constitutionalism, nationalism, and community service. She oversees the organization’s program implementation and offers strategic legal support.
She is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) from Moi University and a postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
As General Counsel, Sylvia leads a legal empowerment team of dedicated pro-bono lawyers, law students, and paralegals to teach communities the law, their legal rights, and obligations, thus enhancing the rule of law. When not dealing with legal matters, Sylvia, an outdoor lover, and avid baker, enjoys singing with SHOFAR, a national Christian choir where her leadership and passion for community service and molding young change-makers is most pronounced.

Mary Munga
Finance and Administration Director
Mary is responsible for the organisation’s overall financial planning, management, and oversight, supporting the program implementation teams.
A highly qualified finance professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Finance Option), Mary is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). With over eight years of progressive experience in accounting, operations management, budgeting, internal controls, payroll, and audit functions, Mary has demonstrated financial, donor/partner reporting, and stakeholder management expertise. She has a proven track record of building competent teams, improving performance, and simplifying processes through digitization.
As Finance Director, she ensures sound internal controls are in place and continually strengthens the organization’s financial and accounting systems to align with best international practices. Prior to her current role, Mary worked as a Finance Officer at Girl Child Network and Compassion International. She was instrumental in improving financial reporting and streamlining processes in both roles.
Mary enjoys spending time with her family and traveling in her free time.

Senior Program Manager – Community Engagement
Irene Were is an accomplished community service expert with a stellar community involvement, program management, and conflict resolution record. She has experience in organizational management and social development programs across formal and informal sectors.
Irene holds a Bachelor of Arts in Gender and Development Studies and an International Diploma in Computer Studies.
She works closely with other line managers and leads to ensure synergy, impactful, efficient and timely implementation of the organization’s programs.
A nature lover and swimmer, Irene loves traveling, making friends, and impacting lives.

Flavier Mwika
Program Manager – Prisons and Re-integration
Flavier manages and coordinates the organization’s work in 15 Prisons spread across the country. She further oversees the re-entry and reintegration process for reformed returning citizens (ex-inmates) helping them settle and re-start their lives upon release.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. Flavier’s love for children in marginalized communities and desire for all children to have equal opportunities has seen her set up a kids center in Dandora which offers support, mentorship, and opportunity for children to learn and grow positively.
She is a role model to the children in the communities she works. Her most rewarding accomplishment has been to guide and mentor children from vulnerable families.
She is a positive and outgoing person who likes music and acting in her free time.

The main man behind the lenses, Levis who prefers to let his work speak for self is a multi-talented skilled content creator, photographer, videographer and podcaster .
A holder of a journalism and mass communication Diploma from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication, Levis joined Crime Si Poa as an intern and has rapidly built his resume with cutting edge productions.
With his exceptional eye for detail and a keen understanding of storytelling, Levis creates compelling visual content that engages and inspires the public.
He enjoys reading good books and listening to good podcasts or music in his free time.

Phanice is the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director and Lead – Lead IT and Digital Livelihoods .
A holder of a Degree in Business and Information Technology , multi-talented Phanice is in charge of the IT department at the organization.
Her proven training skills, top-notch design skills and a passion for leveraging on her background to equip youth from underserved communities with practical ICT employability skills has enabled many to become self-reliant.
When not working, Phanice who is always seek to make positive impact loves doing community service, traveling, and listening to good music.

Claire Kwamboka
Wellness Officer
Claire is our resident mental health and wellness expert who is passionate about provision of counseling services, psychosocial support and mental health education to our beneficiaries in schools, underserved communities and prisons.
Claire holds a Bachelor’s degree in Counseling Psychology and Sociology and continually seeks opportunities to enhance her knowledge and skills in mental health.
Doubling up as the Deputy Lead in the Prisons and Re-integration Program, Claire coordinates a large pool of volunteer professional psychologists who offer psychoeducation and counselling services to persons who are incarcerated, with a slight bias towards children.
When not at work, you are likely to find Claire indulging in her passion for baking and exploring nature trails to rejuvenate her mind and soul.

Halima Guyo Arero
Program Officer – Kajiado County
Halima is our County Lead in the vast Kajiado County. A community engagement specialist with a versatile and rich experience in youth and women’s empowerment , her passion for, as well as advocacy for human rights has made her an outstanding anti-FGM and anti-crime crusader.
She plays a crucial role in community and resource mobilization for crime eradication, reformation of youth formerly engaged in crime and ending SGBV and FGM. The longest serving member of staff, having joined CSP as a volunteer in 2017, Halima has received extensive training in addressing community issues and loves working with marginalized youth , building their skills as ambassadors for safe communities.
She draws her motivation from personal experiences and the devastating effects of crime in her community. In her free time, Halima enjoys outdoor activities, community service, and team and sports.

Ruth Wambui
Program Officer – Nairobi County
Ruth is an accomplished community engagement professional with a proven track record of successfully planning and executing community engagement initiatives in Nairobi County.
In her current role, she manages partner youth groups and all organization activities in Nairobi County.
Ruth holds a Certificate in Digital Literacy, Social Value, and Social R.O.I and a Certificate in Photography. She is pursuing a Diploma in Community Development course at the Kenya Institute of Social Works, further enhancing her expertise in this field.
Ruth’s previous work experience at Community Media Trust involved directing the award-winning film ‘ATIENO’, recognized by the USA Marafiki group, and Kyle McCarter, former US ambassador to Kenya. This experience has honed her communication, leadership, and community engagement skills.
Ruth’s goal is to transform the lives of young people and equip them to be ambassadors of change in society. She strongly believes in the power of active participation and ownership by the community.
During her free time, Ruth enjoys watching investigative documentaries and reading.

Alvin is our “go to person” in Nakuru County. Passionate, driven and with a heart for community service and crime free communities, he is passionate about youth empowerment and creating real and impactful change in society.
A trained paralegal and avid community mobilizer , Alvin leads and coordinates a team of dedicated partner groups and volunteers in executing our work in schools, communities and prisons in the expansive Nakuru County.
A respected and influential youth leader in his county, Alvin’s strong communication and leadership skills has enabled him to engage and motivate young people move from crime and truancy to become active community changemakers.
Alvin enjoys reading, playing sports, and volunteering in his community in his free time.
